RadiKS Navigator's Log 8:15 AM - Kenta driving, Chris navigating, Dave hacking, and John sitting. We are on our way to pick up Adam, just about to cross the San Mateo bridge. The VAN is up and darn cool, but I am having some trouble getting a good net connection while mobile. Ah well, thats Ricochet for you. Our van had perpetual brake warning lights on. I hope they're not an omen. The GPS Dave bought is mega cool though. We are tracking right into Delorme, and it is working great. We are a bit behind schedule, but should get to Sonoma on time. Chris out. 9:01 We are at Adam's. 9:05 We are leaaving. Fast load. 9:20 Ouch. I bumped my head. 9:23 We see a BIG boat. At Port Richmond. 9:35 Kenta claims that George Lucas is an ego-maniac. 10:01 We just passed train town. Kenta thinks it's over-rated. He sure gripes a lot. Now we are driving past his high school. 10:03 Sonoma Safeway! 10:42 Leaving Safeway. Saw the Warrior Monks in the parking lot. Kenta doesn't think they were impressed by our cool RadiKS sign. I think he may have an atitude problem. ;-) 12:04 We have gotten our Wonka Reciever, book, and found the first clue. It was a stake in the ground, with "page 80" on one side, and "hint at bus shack south of sonoma on palmer and leverone" 12:26 Hint (in morse) - "It is morse." 12:31 We have: "oak hi_p farm .3 mi n of mmdron eg gonh1e" 1:00 We are at the Oak Hill Farm .3m north of Madrone. Now what? 1:12 We found a tape behind the big old tree. Hint - "Maxwell Farms Park, behind Boys & Girls CLub sign." The tape said to join in the singing. Candy Asses had left a large kiss at the clue. On the tape case - "Find the Oompa Loompa wearing the purple hat." On the tape it said join in the signing. On the tape: "Home home on the range" Range! q/(s) "My darling Clementine" Oh! n/(p) "I knew an old lady who swallowed a fly" swallowed! (r)/t "Jimmy Cracked Corn" Jimmy! (n) 1:54 - We got the hint - "Oompa Loompas sure can sign off key. Did you notice how some letters were too high or too low?" 2:02 - Kenta got it - "Spring Lake Park South Lagoon" Which is blue#3 lake. 2:14 - We just passed Team Advil on the side of the road. Nyah nyah! 2:24 - John just found his dream home. 2:30 - We are at the park. Time to swim? 4:54 Tan and exhausted, all four parts are solved and we are back at the van. Team Advil just left, bastards. They are moments ahead of us. Anyway, at the park we found the whipping boy on the south side of the lagoon, and he gave us an envelope that said to open the green door. That sent us to page 15 in the book, where more choices await. Oh, we were told we were the third team there. Yeah! The envelope also contained a map, which detailed four quests. Adam and I rented a canoe and worked on quest #1 and #2, get to the islands. We rowed back and forth several times without a map, and realized there were three islands, not two. Ugh. We eventually found two stakes, and searched in vain for a third to no avail. Some teams were swimming though, crazy. Meanwhile, David walked around and almost solved quest #3 (the Knids helped us get the last bit, but their street was wrong. Conspiracy? John and Kenta hiked for miles to solve the compass direction clue. Answer: Calistoga Bottling Plant Near Lincoln and Divisidaro Intersection. 5:46 - Ugh! We are at the Calistoga plant, and have found the clue up inside this huge rusty truck sclupture. Unfortunately, upon returning to our van we found that the side door had malfunctioned and will no longer latch shut. Suck!!! After much effort we managed to get it to latch, and only a few teams came up and caught us. Anyway, we got a chocolate bar. Wonka Zonka Lickamebar. Net wt 4000 arb. Lav it or leave it. Ingredients: Walk around blue#3 lake. Story about fizzy lifting. There seems to be a message inside the chocolate bar. We mussed our hands, and ruined half of it. GCON gave us permission to go back and get another at 6:17. 7:21 - We got it. Intersection of 128 and Chiles & Pope Canyon Rd, spelled out in sugar letters INSIDE the chocolate. A lot of tedious scraping payed off. 7:34 - We took pictures of David's surgeon like work, and are on our way again. 8:05 - We are there, deploying. 8:35 - Found a spiral deal, after we were told by a machine to filch the botel. A dozen teams are here, nobody can find the silly box behind the fence. GCON call needed for advice - they told us to trespass. Using the magnet from the bookmark. 65 A, 97 a, -x--xx-x,-x--xxxx-x--xxx--x-x-xx,--x--x-x----xx-x---x-x-x--xx---x--xx---x--xxxx-x---x---x-----x-x--xx-x-x---xxx-x--xx---x--xxxx-x-x--x--x-xx--x-x--x----x--xxxx-x--xx---x---x-x. 01001101 = 64 8 4 1= 77 = M 8:55 -We got it, with a dead heat between John's mind and David's machine converting the ascii based upon the magnetic pattern. Answer - Montecello Dam Glory Hole. I had to explain one of the definitions of what a glory hole was, much to everyone's shock. 10:57 - We've been at the damn dam for over an hour, and can't find the clue. When we got here there were a dozen teams here, when we left only one team was still there - and they had gotten the last wheel. The hint is at 121/128 - resistor codes ??? There was an accident near the hint... Helicopters are flying in... 11:04 - Got hint from other team, down in town.... They said it is small, and near the glory hole a little above eye level. 11:15 - Back at the lodge, with our beaded bracelet. Agh! Only a few left! OBOB,WBBGl,GBRO,GBOV,RGlWVBVOVBVGBVBROGlOGLBRGlROOGlVBGl 30,000 3% 96,000000 5% b b 65 hlr 12:12 Got it, with some help from the orange team. They said ASCII. Ding ding! 02 start of text, 03 end of text. Davis Loop, Old Davis Rd + California Ave. 12:50 - We are at Davis. Looking around for the clue.... 2:47 - Time distortion field... We are still in Davis. There was nothing in the bushes, GCon lies. We followed the algorithm in a loop around Davis, which sucked us into the whirlpool and lead us to a large bike. There we found no CD's in a locked box, but Team Dangermouse was kind enough to give us theirs. Police at the quickee mart. Donut theft? Anyway, we are now copying CD's full of large movies. The CD silk screen has Mike TV being shrunk on it, and on the case it says get sucked in. The cops came - John paniced for a sec, but they were friendly. The cop was amazed at the number of computers in our van. At random times... Solved Davis Oompa Dance at Denny's (go Kenta!) and then went to light post place in Sacramento. Got a red bulb. That sent us to a park, where we talked to a laser on a base ball. From there to some port town and a damn metric lolly pop. Ran into Team Random Task at dawn.... They had been there hours, and seen six teams come and go. >From there to the bridge, and got candy, and then solved the faces clue after the radio code hint. Lye's Produce and Fruit Stand, 1189 Main & Sandy Lane. 11:24 - I've been driving, so not much in the log. We are in Santa Rosa, whittling springs out of driftwood. Weird. We witnessed the tomato demolition derby. Cool. 11:33 lyes 12:07 - Basic clock at Lyes, hint at Carl's. Reverse the alphabet... Sent us to a nice park in Brentwood were we found two other teams, we helped us find a key, and then promptly left. It was great to see teams though! 2:28 - I took a nap. Adam and David solved any annoyingly vague trinary key clue. Back on the road to Byron Main St. GC was amazed at how far behind we were, but were very pleased that we figured out the trinary on our own. 2:39 - En route, US Print fortress??? 2:47 - Looking around the world's tiniest downtown. 3:45 - Excel at the aquaduct. 5:28 - Doing UPC morse in Livermore. Bridge Number 33C5 126 on CALAVERAS Rd near 680. 5:56 - At the Calaveras bridge. I think we might be getting close to the end. Mountain View is feeling closer and closer! 6:10 - We are hack sawing away on the solid jello. We are near the end of the choose your own A. We are running out of energy. But - the sun is still up, and we saw other teams as recently as 3:45 - PM this year! We are doing way better than last year! 6:22 - We got the paper out. And that is as far as I logged...
